Clive is Chief Operations Officer (COO) at WMG, responsible for developing, maintaining and supporting our back-office functions including finance, human resources, IT and risk.
Brought up in Exeter, Clive spent a year in Perth, Australia playing cricket at the age of 18 before a first degree in Greek (Ancient & Modern) at the University of Birmingham including a year studying abroad in Greece. A string player (Cello and Double Bass), during his time at University Clive also played in the London Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, British Youth Opera and various local orchestras in the Midlands and the South West.
Qualifying as a chartered accountant at KPMG Birmingham after University, Clive then worked in industry with Inchcape plc and Saint-Gobain, qualifying as a chartered marketer along this journey in industry. Joining Catalyst Corporate Finance, based in Birmingham, in 2005 as Business Development Director he helped over eight years grow Catalyst from 11 people to over 50, win multiple industry awards and numerous headline clients before resigning in January 2013 to start a portfolio career of his own. This journey has included seven years in a voluntary role as Trustee for Finance & Risk at the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO), partly for which he won the Institute of Directors Non-Executive Director of the Year award in 2018.
Now living ironically in Warwick, Clive brings structure, process and a string players eye for quality to WMG as we focus on our mission of widening access to music to all.
